Voluntourists?

God bless people who will give up their vacation to help others. A friend last year took his family vacation and did missionary work in Central America. I was impressed by his selflessness. Now WaPo is reporting on people taking their vacation to help rebuild New Orleans.

I respect what you’re doing, and wish you well, but I’m practicing something I like to call, “To-Hell-With-Thatism.” It may be selfish and insensitive, but my vacation is a time for relaxation, introspection, warm sandy beaches and drinks with little umbrellas. I’ll have one for you, and think of you pounding nails while I’m pounding tequila shots.
