This Is Just Stupid

PoliticsTechnologyCongress has done some really stupid things before, but this one takes the cake. Congress passed a law, which the President signed, that requires agencies to get the approval of Congress (the slowest moving land animal) before beginning any eGovernment projects.

So Congress, has actually made it harder for the bureaucracy to be effective. It would seem that they would want to go the other route. Congress spends enough time interfering with an agency’s internal operations by maintaining relationships with program offices or divisions within the agency, and then supporting those offices in conflict with directives issued by the secretary. This is yet another example of them hindering an effective government.
