Mixed Signals

DHS Secretary Chertoff told a rapt audience that we no longer fear tweezers and nail clippers as the terrorists weapon of choice. We’re focused instead on the threat of explosives.

Unfortunately, we seem to be doing a really crappy job at that, too. If we’re laser focused on finding explosives, then why did 21 of 21 airports fail to find the components of an IED smuggled through security.

I may never fly again knowing we have Barney Fife watching the gates.
