Chocolate City, Vanilla Mayor

Interesting news out of Louisiana as Proud Mary‘s brother Mitch announces his run for Mayor of New Orleans.

Just a few weeks ago, NO Mayor Ray Nagin pledged his city would be a “Chocolate City” again. In equivocating remarks meant to keep the pledge, yet step back from the blatant racism, he offered an explanation that chocolate is made from the mix of dark chocolate and white milk. So it’s going to be a chocolate milk city?

Well, the white milk showed up in town today. Mitch Landrieu, son of the city’s last milky mayor, wants Nagin’s job. Since much of the city’s African American population left the city after Katrina hit, he just may get it.
