The New Season Of Lost

I was a bit concerned about the three month hiatus that Lost scheduled into its season. Six weeks on, 12 weeks off, and 16 weeks on didn’t really seem like a great idea to me. I have to say, though, I will accept it if the rest of the season is as good as the last two weeks.

Last night was awesome. The surreal discussion Desmond had with the woman selling the ring had a Matrix/Oracle feel to it and I loved the deja vu angle. The second best part of it was the end. It would mess with your head to have someone tell you they’ve saved your life twice, but the universe had it out for you and sooner or later was going to get you.

The best part, and the part I need to remember when some schmuck comes to ask for my daughter’s hand in marriage, was the brush off Desmond’s would-be father in law gives him. “You’re not good enough to drink my scotch, what makes you think you would ever be good enough to marry my daughter?” Harsh!

If the next 14 weeks are as good as the last two, Lost can stick to this goofy structure with no complaints from me.
