The Humor That Cost a Job
The Hotline blog this morning picked up an article that should never have run on the St. Petersburg Times.
At a joint press conference today in Washington, White House Advisor Karl Rove said that he would be plotting the Republican Party’s fall election strategy with his longtime comrade-in-arms, Satan.
Having been on the wrong end of one of these “trying way too hard to be clever and shooting yourself in the ass” moments, I feel for the poor guy that’s likely to lose his job over this. Mine didn’t result in the loss of a job, but I got bent over pretty good for my little attempt at humor. This guy, however, won’t walk right for a while.
It’s sad that people are so uptight that the accidental publication of an otherwise amusing joke gets them all worked up. The GOP will scream for this guys head, and likely get it. In the end, the only thing that will have come from this is an uptick in the unemployment rate to the tune of +1.
