Return Of The Camaro

With the success of the retro beetle, the retro mustangs and the retro T-bird, it was only a matter of time before Chevy decided to get into the mix. And today they did. The concept for a stylized Camaro rolled into the North American Auto Show.

There is no bigger fan of the 1969 Camaro z28 than me. That’s my dream car, and one of these days I’ll break down and invest, but for now, this will have to do… Except it doesn’t. This car does nothing for me… I hate to say it, but I think Chevy fell really short on this one.

Compare the image of the new Camaro (click on it for a larger version) to the 1969 Camaro. There is just something mean, and sleek, and raw and powerful about that car. The new mustang did a pretty good job of capturing the feeling evoked by the classic Mach II Mustang. Unfortunately, the Chevy has none of that.

Sorry, Chevy. I really wanted to like this car… I did… But I don’t think I can… I guess it’s back to eBay to find a ’69…
