Big Day For Blackberry

Today is the day we’ve been dreading. Later today NTP and Blackberry go back before the judge who will decide whether Blackberry has to shut down. Of course, it’s not really a shutdown, it’s just a huge hassle for all of their customers. They’ve already released details of a workaround.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the judge does. After all, the patent office has been rejecting NTPs patents right and left. All five of the NTP patents have been rejected in non-final reviews, and are expected to be rejected finally within a few months. Unfortunately, that doesn’t matter in the court hearing tomorrow. Until they are rejected outright, the court can still force Blackberry to implement Plan B.

I guess we’ll know shortly.
